How to get back on track with your life and goals

Laundry piling up? Too many tasks on your to do list? All the things you usually enjoy are no longer appealing and you feel like eating and Netflixing your life away.

It’s totally understandable. You get overwhelmed sometimes. It’s completely normal. But, how long does it actually take you to get out of those inconveniently timed ruts?

Personally, I like to take a weekend to get things up and running again. With my mood tracker in my digital bullet journal, in conjunction with the Flo app, which I use to track my period, I can pinpoint almost exactly when my weary thoughts and midlife angst like to drop by (thanks hormones and adulting anxieties).

There are three key habits that always get me back on track.

Digital Cleanse + Detox

Let’s start with a simple digital cleanse. Delete any unnecessary apps on your phone, tablet, or laptop. Start with the device you use the most. I also recommend clearing your desktop and organizing the retail chaos in your inbox.

Lastly, take a break from social media. Comparison is no fun and it definitely does not help your mindset or self-esteem. Be present in the moment and take some time for yourself.

Revamp your space

Say it with me, “Hello Marie Kondo, I’m not decluttering my entire home today. I commit to focusing on one area because I have no time nor the energy. I’m gonna spark a little joy today!”

To be completely honest, changing my bedroom and workspace around is so refreshing. I’m not talking about buying new furniture or spending way too much money on home decor. I mean shuffling things up a bit or rearranging furniture. It creates a new mood and inspires you to be more productive. I probably do this way more often than necessary, but it works like a charm!

Do nothing

Have no shame in staying in bed for the day or simply doing nothing. Bing Netflix, practice a new hobby, do things you never allow yourself to do. Just do it. Turn your brain off, relax, and don’t feel guilty about it.
