Brittney Lewis is a multi-disciplinary artist based in Los Angeles. Fascinated by color and inspired by nature, Brittney wanders the West Coast painting abstract landscapes with bold strokes and lively color palettes. Working with digital and traditional media, she intends to capture the beauty and complexity of the world we live in while sharing the magic of being outdoors.

My Story

When I was a kid, I didn’t camp or go on summer vacations for outdoor recreation. My family had backyard BBQ’s with the entire community,
I spent most of my time hanging out with my cousins, doodling in my journal, playing video games, spending hours on Flickr or teaching myself photoshop. I always found a way to be creative.
I studied Fashion Marketing at the Art Institute of Charlotte where I worked behind the scenes in numerous fashion shows, completed my first internships in NYC, and I won best portfolio during graduation.
Shortly after, I transferred to SCAD and received my BFA in Accessory Design. After graduation, I packed my bags and headed to California for all things outdoors. I completely fell in love with the beauty of the West coast. Consider me, New York raised + California amazed.
I visited Yosemite with my husband for the first time and we had a chance to meet Shelton Johnson, the only African American park ranger in the Sierra Nevada. I was really touched by his story and mission to make National Parks more inclusive. I decided to give an FYI session at my job to create awareness and lead hikes every other weekend in Los Angeles to women of color.
While working as a full-time Creative, I became completely mesmerized by hiking and photography. I found myself always carving out extra time for spontaneous shoots and trips. Staying up late to master my gear. But most importantly, the greatest and most rewarding gift is inspiring someone to visit one of the locations in my work and providing a way for them to commemorate their adventures.
At 31, I finally learned to embrace my free spirit energy. Whitney said it best; “I’m every woman, its all in me!” I’m a dreamer, I’m an artist, I’m a daughter, I’m a wife. I’m a cool auntie cousin. I’m a outdoor enthusiast. I’m a designer. I’m a photographer. I accept that I’m forever evolving. And at this moment in time, I want to share the magic of the outdoors with you.
