WHY I SWITCHED TO DIGITAL JOURNALING AND HOW YOU CAN TOO!

I’m Brittney, but I also go by Brije. I’m an artist + outdoor enthusiast obsessed with journaling. I have tons of notebooks, sketchbooks, and journals. I usually work out of 3-4 at the same time. Each one has a different purpose of course, but I also have heaps of notes on Goggle keep, my phone, and random documents on my computer. This year my goal was to find a way to keep all my sketches, journals, design ideas, notes, and planner in one place.

The answer to all my problems: Samsung Notes

I currently use a Surface book 2 as my daily driver and recently I decided to purchase a Samsung Galaxy Tab S7 to supplement my workflow. I opted for the 11in model because I was looking for portability. I like to draw and manage my inspiration on the go. The Tab S7 also has a micro SD slot so you can expand the storage, which is a huge plus in my book.

Nothing feels better than having everything organized in one place (at least to my virgo brain anyway)!

Benefits of Digital Journaling

Eco-Friendly

Say goodbye to all the stationery you bought and never used. Don’t forget all the beautiful notebooks you’re scared to draw in. There’s no printing or an excessive amount of waste involved in digital journaling. Once you complete a journal, you can save it as a pdf and store it on a hard drive.

Easy

No longer do you have to fear the blank page or worry about ruining expensive materials. All you have to do is press undo and voilà, magic! There’s also plenty of tools to assist with drawing and you can download digital stickers to jazz up your journal spreads. One of my favorite places to get stickers is Creative Market. See below.

Convenient

The Samsung notes app syncs to your phone and laptop so you always have your journal at your disposal. If you’re using an ipad, this works on apps like Goodnotes, Notability and One Note as well. Easily attach photos, stickers, maps, stuff you find on the web to commemorate your travels.
