Sandstone Peak

At 3,111 feet, Sandstone Peak, also known as Mount Allen, is the highest peak in the Santa Monica mountains. The summit can be reached via a 3 mile out and back trail or 6.25-mile loop with 1,075 feet of elevation gain along the Backbone Trail to Mishe Mokwa loop.

Sandstone Peak Hiking Journal

Super excited to finally start a hiking journal! I’ve been trying to find a way to commemorate my hikes and travels for a while. Last month, I took a stab at Inktober and decided to turn my illustrations into patches, which meant I had to teach myself to embroider. It was quite the process, but in the end, with a just a few art supplies I was able to capture some of my memories from Sandstone Peak in a colorful and simple way. I designed a patch inspired by balancing rock. Patches available here
